Verbal Behaviour and Autism
Tacting is naming or expressive labels. Example: Smelling smoke and saying “fire”. A tack is evoked by the presence of stimuli in the environment (SD). Tact is reinforced by Praise. Examples: You show Amanda a picture of a flower. She says “flower”. You say “Good job!”; while playing with Billy, Raine says “Blue”, referencing the color of Billy’s sneakers. You say “You’re right, his sneakers are blue!”
